Parvati's family is not rich like the Devdas, and they are Brahmin's of a bit lower category. Devdas and Parvati are childhood friends and Parvati adores Devdas. Even Devdas has a liking for Parvati. Parvati's family proposes to Devdas' family for their marriage, but they are humiliated and their proposal is declined and Devdas is sent to Calcutta. Parvati gets married and Devdas is heartbroken.
