Mamta Kulkarni started her acting career with 'Aashiq Awara' opposite newcomer Saif Ali Khan. But before she could concentrate on her career, she got involved in a number of controversial incidents and her acting took a backstage. This led a series of B-grade films from where it took her a long time to come off. She might have worked with most of the top heroes of the industry but career still has not got the required weightage. There are some of her memorable movies like Rakesh Roshan's 'Karan Arjun' with Salman Khan, 'Baazi' with Aamir Khan and 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' with Akshay Kumar. But one film which she is going to remember for a long long to come is Rajkumar Santoshi's Chinagate. Her acting potentials were undoubtedly fully exploited in this film but did not bring her in the top bracket. This actress has become serious about her career and films. This must be the reason why she has started doing selective movies. She has come down to three movies a year and is working with directors like Mahesh Bhatt and J. P. Dutta. Her one film, which was awaiting release for a long time was Kirti Kumar's 'Naseeb' opposite Govinda. But the Govinda magic was not able to bring the much needed boost in her career.
